Early to Mid 19th Copper & Brass Kettle Glass Handle & Dovetailed Construction
Beautiful Original Early To Mid 19th Century Copper & Brass Kettle. With its original lid and beautiful milk glass handle & Gooseneck spout. I think it is British but could be North American. There is some family history on a old. Of paper on the bottom. Reads it came from the Niagara area I was told original family came from there. I did some research to try to find a kettle like it with the early dovetail joints. I did not find many of the early Kettles with the dovetailed joints. The Dovetail seems are to the bottom back and a seem on the spout. Another sign of a early Kettle is to be tin lined which it is including the lid. The white glass handle is in very good condition and they are hard to find. I searched the internet and found one but the handle was badly damaged. The Kettles main body is oval & is thick copper with the Handle been joined to the body by brass shaped supports which are riveted to the kettle and are impressed in two places with the number 2 & the original lid fits very well and has a brass finial. Condition is very good normal age patina a few small dents slightly crocked handle but as you can see from images are minor and do not. Detract from a very beautiful and rare kettle. I did not polish it as some like it with patina but it will polish up well. This is a fantastic example rare and hard to find because of its great condition and having a milk glass handle and been a early Kettle with dovetail construction. Hight to top of handle 9 inches. Weight 1.073 Kilograms. We pride ourselves on describing items as accurately as possible and their condition. Please read condition report and look at our images.
