This is a rocket stove. It’s made to use sticks and twigs to create a highly oxygenated, hot fire, to be used for cooking. It also produces far less smoke than other wood burning stoves, because the heat and air access helps burn everything cleanly. It folds up flat into a roughly 12″x7″ pouch, making extremely easy to carry or stow anywhere. We used it once, but ended up sticking with fuel canisters and an MSR stove. It requires, long-handled (and thus heavier) cooking implements we don’t have, as the short fold-out handles on our Toaks Titanium cup/pots got too hot to pull it on/off the column of heat. As backpackers, we weren’t willing to add extra weight to both our stove and cooking setup, since everything goes on our backs. As it is used more, it will gradually go on changing colors. It came with a lot of sharp edges, like it was punched directly out of the sheets. I used my machinist skills to sand down all those edges making them buttery smooth. There really is no stove like this anywhere else in the world.
