This is a Meteor, Jupiter 470 wide format convection stove, 3-9kw, heats 60-130m2 room, is in very good original condition, reconditioned and ready to use. A convection stove means that the stove quickly emits heat after lighting. The heat is transferred by a natural air current, and not by heat radiation. This results in a pleasant indoor climate and a uniform temperature throughout the entire room. It is in full working order and comes with a fresh coat of charcoal grey heat proof paint. No cracks in the iron. One fault, a crack in the back fire brick, see photo. For Highlands, Islands and Europe please send postcode for a quote. 3/ Cash on collection. Air inlet Primary and pre heated secondary/air wash. Flue Ø 150mm, can be rear or top. General advice on how to use a wood burning stove. The principle is that you are not burning the wood but the gases the wood gives off when heated. Wood burns from the top down, you don’t want air getting underneath the grate otherwise you will get black glass. Once the fire is going close the primary air supply completely and control the stove using the secondary air supply only, primary is under the grate, secondary is down the inside of the glass. Having a stove shut right down and smouldering away will extend the refuelling intervals yes but at the cost of tars in the flue (because the temperature in the firebox is not hot enough to combust the gases given of by the wood) and significantly increased soot deposits. Smokeless fuel, anthracite etc burns from the bottom up, you have the secondary air supply wide open and control the fire using the primary air supply that’s putting air under the grate. I hope this is of some help. The item “Meteor, Jupiter 470 wide format, wood burning insert stove, made in Denmark” is in sale since Tuesday, January 02, 2018.
