Turkey has introduced us to many new and wonderful experiences. One of the highlights has been the discovery of the Turkish Samovar or Çay (tea) Soba. The Turks are an elemental people: they like fire, water and the outdoors.. All year round you will see Turkish families and their friends in their gardens, by the side of the road, on the beaches and in the mountains, forests and fields cooking and making tea on their Soba’s! We think the Turkish Soba offers something a bit different to the classic BBQ’s or outdoor camping stoves that are commonly used. They have a unique and charming character of their own and are great for camping, allotments, garden parties, picnics, festivals, caravans or simply as a beautiful object in its own right. The Humble Soba’ sits perfectly in your home or garden: on the patio, in the kitchen or in the lounge by the fireplace, and is always a source of interest and conversation! The Soba is a simple solid fuel burning stove that you fill with charcoal or wood, ignite and then use to heat water and make hot drinks. The top compartment (water heater) can be removed and the base used to cook on. Alternatively, it can simply be used to keep you warm on cold days and evenings outdoors. The Soba is a fun and simple way to enjoy cooking and making hot drinks outdoors and also providing hot water to wash up with before heading home. The Soba is light to carry and very easy to start up and use. We average about 15 minutes to make the fire, light it and get the water boiling! You can either bring charcoal or wood along with you or you can source dry wood from wherever you are setting up your Soba! You will quickly discover when you are out and about enjoying your Turkish Soba….. That you are the the envy of your neighbouring campers and picnickers and that your Soba is always a source of interest and conversation. Turkish traditional chromium steel outdoor stove (4 litres). Uses wood, kindling or charcoal dry bits of firewood do fine, very economical = free fuel! Simple and quick to start·. Boils water and brews tea. Lay the fuel tray at the bottom of the stove base. 2 taps (one for hot water & one for tea). Top compartment can be removed so that bottom section can be used as a stove. Keeps heat for a long time. Lay the fuel tray at the bottom of the stove base ·. Fill the stove base with firewood or charcoal and set alight ·. Place the water reservoir on top of the stove base and fill with water ·. Fill the separate tea reservoir with water and tea leaves or tea bags as required ·. Attach the chimney to the water reservoir ·. Smoke will begin to come out of the chimney ·. The chimney runs through the stove base and water reservoir (the chimney is a sealed unit) ·. The fire can be fed with fuel either through the hatch at the front of the stove base or through the chimney ·. The water boils in the top compartment ·. Hot plate on top of water reservoir can be used to cook using a small pan or keep food warm (uses the steam from the water reservoir) ·. Remove water reservoir to place pan or BBQ grill on stove base for cooking directly on stove. 1 The chromium steel used to make this stove will tarnish with use over time. 2The chromium steel used to make this stove is lightweight and easily dents. 3 The rims and edges of the different sections of the soba are sharp, so please handle carefully when assembling and dismantling. 4 The embossed motifs on the front of the soba may vary slightly from the soba in the photograph. 5 The taps on ALL sobas are now both red. 6 From July 2013 all heating appliances to be fitted into houses are required to be CE approved and marked as such. This soba has not been through the testing required for CE approval. This soba is for outdoor use only. Unfortunately we will not be able to sell you a soba if it is for fitting and use in a house.
